iPlayer 0.2 - Browse and stream content from the BBC’s iPlayer

iPlayer 0.2 is a pocket pc freeware to browse and stream content from the BBC’s iPlayer.

Features:
- Finger friendly UI including flick kinetic scrolling, swipe gestures and vibration feedback.
- Supports Nav Sensor and Stylus Removal
- Higher quality video/audio than Samsung User Agent hack (483×272 h.264 video stream).
- Browse content by Highlights, Popular, Channel, Category or Date.
- Search for content and save history.
- Checks for latest version of player and AppToDate support.
- Downloads video to device for later viewing (I download at home over wifi and then watch videos on the tube on the way to work).
- Video launched in your default player associated with ‘.mov’ files (you can use CorePlayer).

Requirements:
- .Net framework 3.5.
- You also must be in the UK to use this. The BBC seem to block access over cellular data from some operators (e.g. Vodafone) . If this happens then please try over wifi & report your findings to the developer
- This app is for the Diamond only so far (because of the screen res and sensor support). Developer may add support for other devices and screen resolutions in the future if there is enough interest.
- You need a video player capable of playing back the (h.264 + AAC) video. The only one I have found that works is CorePlayer (commercial app). This player must be associated with ‘.mov’ files. If you rename the file to have a ‘.mp4′ extension the HTC Album will play the video but might not get any sound. Please could you try this on your device and if it works report the ROM version/HTC Album version/build to the developer

If you find this tool useful, please donate to the developer.

Microfi Nitrogen 0.2b - opensource finger friendly music player for windows mobile

Microfi Nitrogen

Nitrogen is a full-featured pocket pc freeware MP3 player. With a friendly, easy-to-use interface, it allows you to browse among music using your finger. It uses the MAD decoder, which provides a high quality, lightweight MP3 playback.

Microfi Nitrogen is a native Windows Mobile application (unmanaged code) that allows you to play MP3 songs stored on your Pocket PC device. It features a file browser, full skin support, “Shuffle” and “Repeat” modes, a built-in sleep mode and a command to blank screen to prevent energy waste while playing music. Nitrogen uses the MAD decoder, which is opensource. As the official releases of MAD for Pocket PC seem to be discontinued, Nitrogen uses the libraries from an opensource player (GSPlayer).
Nitrogen was build due to the lack of finger-friendly players for Pocket PC (you have to use stylus even for simple tasks). It features large buttons and you can browse among your playlist by drawing circles on the screen (tapping in the appropriate space). In future releases the program will be expected to have an equalizer and other extensions support, but such things are still being tested to ensure stability and efficiency.
